My experience with Airbnb / All denim look

April 13, 2020

I actually wore the outfit with the black belt and shoes to church that day. It was so comfy. I should have shown a before picture of the outfit without the belt. It really was night and day. Without the belt it looked very frumpy because I am petite but I liked it much better with the belt.

I felt like changing it up when we went out to dinner so I just changed belt and shoes. Changing outfits and getting dressed up is so fun!

I really liked a cool colored edit for the shots in the bedroom but for the rest I really liked an edit with warmer tones. I think it pulls out the texture in the brick. I can do a post on how I edit my photos if anyone is interested? I like to have fun with it and change up the look.

Outfit details:

Top: Target / Denim: Unpublished flares from The Hip Eagle / Belt: ASOS / Black & white heels: Zara / Headband: Zara / Earrings: Rachel Roy from Marshalls

So far, I have booked two Airbnb’s myself and both were completely different experiences. Before I start to talk about them I will list them below…#1 in Cincy and #2 in Lexington

#1 – Cincy

#2 – Lexington

#1 was SO easy to find and the unit was SO clean. I mean with Airbnb, the cost to rent per night might appear cheap but it really goes up after you add in all the fees. Watch out for this but also be thankful…Ill explain. You will pay a cleaning fee so it is not wrong to expect a spotless place. Cleaning fee at #1 was $49 and cleaning fee at #2 was $30. This brings me to the topic of fees…you will also pay a “Service Fee” as well as “Occupancy taxes and fees” in addition to cleaning fee…yikes.

There is not one bad thing I can say about our experience at #1 – parking was confusing at first but we found a parking garage adjacent to the building after a couple drives around the block. Ended up being a 2 min walk to our place from there which I feel is really good for downtown Cincy. BEST AIR BNB EVER – HIGHLY RECOMMEND STAYING!

#2….where to start. I will also note that I was by myself during this trip which may have affected my experience I am going to say ~15%. LOL. It was terrible. The unit is one third of a big house, connected to two other air bnbs. NEVER DO THIS! (in my opinion) The walls were paper thin and next to my bed was a door that appeared to enter into the next rental.. No extra reinforcement or anything more than just a doorknob and regular lock which appeared as if I could just open it up and say HI to them. I will insert picture below. Even if there was a concrete wall behind that door I could hear the 2:30am conversations, stomping, door slamming and yelling. It was terrifying waking up to that but would have been creepy at any other hour also. I will also note that there were many differences from the pictures….some of the lights didn’t work and the couch was covered in stains. There was also dirt in all the corners and a little “cubby hole” with a hole in it behind the bed (the pillows are covering up the hole in the picture). It was difficult to find but a pretty good downtown location…

Moral of the story is I would not recommend staying in an airbnb alone. In my opinion it would be worth it to spend a little extra money for a hotel. There you have a person at the front desk all night should you need anything. Also, paying a little more for a cleaning fee is not a bad thing – its worth it! See my overall pros and cons below:

Pros

  • Can be cheaper than a hotel (sometimes)
  • Amazing locations – beautiful scenery
  • Cool aesthetic – unique designs
  • Can be isolated for increased privacy (unlike some hotels/resorts)

Cons

  • Not always cheaper – multiple different fees applied at checkout and different with each rental
  • Communication with homeowner can be challenging
  • No guarantee the unit is going to be true to advertisement – go with Superhost if possible (this limits options sometimes)
  • Must rely solely on other reviews for reference
  • Not the best for solo travel

Any questions, let me know! Hope you enjoyed my little round up on Airbnb! Talk soon. -Case
