As I think back about 2019 I see how it went by SO fast. I started the year working at the hip eagle waiting on responses to the dietitian applications I had put in and I enter 2020 with 2 totally different jobs and Eric about to start working. I would not change one thing about how I got to where I am.
Keep scrolling for little about my goals and setting dates for 2020.
It doesn’t always work but I love to try to wear some pieces all year round. I got this jumpsuit from ASOS after Christmas last year and they still have it in stock. It does have more of a summer feel but I thought it transitioned pretty good. I did take these pictures a long time ago (my hair is way diff now) but I still wanted to share! I wanted to get some pictures in it without my jacket but it was way too cold! LOL
This year more than others I have put a higher priority on my health. There are two main areas I am choosing to focus on.
1. Doctor’s Appointments/Health Screenings
I never really got established with any doctor during the one year at bellefonte and now almost being at King’s Daughters for a year I think it is time to do just that. I will admit I have been meaning to make an appointment for a LONG time now but just haven’t. This is going to sound crazy but if I am going to have a baby one day, I know I need to be in my best shape possible for it. That is part of my motivation because I do have a fear of going to the doctor [even though I work with amazing doctors everyday]. It really makes no sense to me why I am scared of going – I am not really shy but I do hate getting my blood drawn. Don’t think I will every know why my heart rate is always higher at the doctor’s office..Wish me luck.
My idea is this: My birthday is on January 28th so I have promised myself that I will have all my needed appointments MADE by then. Maybe you struggle with this too and could use your birthday as that cut off date? I already have a teeth cleaning scheduled…baby steps.
2. Nutrition and Exercise
I have gained weight since marriage. It is no secret and I am not afraid to talk about it. I would like to lose some poundage in 2020. Being a dietitian and giving nutrition advice all day long does make it a little easier to make better choices because I am constantly aware. On the other hand, I am constantly aware of calories and macros in every single bite. It does make it hard sometimes to enjoy even just a little bit of what we call “empty calories.” LOL I don’t have any lofty goals nutrition wise other than to stop eating when I am full, try to eat more fruits & veggies, and find my perfect pre and post workout fuel.
In regards to exercise I would like to go to orange theory more often. I am addicted to the workouts. Right now, Eric and I go ~2 x per week (8/month). This has been amazing to help me get stronger. When I started I was coming off of doing minimal cardio for ~6 months straight. Now I am feeling much more endurance and want to reach a higher level. They are doing a transformation challenge in mid-Jan and I am thinking of signing up and going 4 x per week. I would compare orange theory to being in high school basketball or track practice where you are pushed by your coach farther than you would push yourself in the best way! We will see how that part plays out soon but if I don’t do that, I will document what I do choose to do to increase my fitness level this year.
